History Of Citizen Advocacy

The Citizen Advocacy began in the U.S.A and Canada in 1960s.

The first Australian Citizen Advocacy started and was established in Perth 1980 (Western Australia).

Citizen Advocacy programs,other states of Australia are:

- Melbourne in 1981

- Canberra and Sydney in 1982

- Adelaide in 1986

- Launceston in 1990

- Sunshine Coast Citizen Advocacy Woombye QLD

- Auckland NZ

- Capricorn Citizen Advocacy Rockhampton QLD

- Citizen Perth West WA

- Citizen Advocacy Illawarra Wollongong NSW

- The Sunbury Citizen Advocacy was created in 1985, to support the residents of Caloola.

The Caloola industrial School 


The Caloola Training Centre closed since 1992

There was a worker’s strike at the Caloola Training Centre.
Sunbury Citizen Advocacy started because of Sunbury residents were shocked by the conditions which were terrible, so the residents helped with Caloola.

That was how Sunbury Citizen Advocacy started in 1985.
